Orbitfall guide: gravity golf tips for three stars

Orbitfall is space golf with real gravity. Pull back, release, and bend a probe around gravity wells into the wormhole in as few flicks as possible. This guide explains the aim, the stars and how to read each region.

How to play Orbitfall

Touch anywhere and drag away from the probe to aim, then let go to launch. The further you pull, the harder the launch. A short aim line shows how your curve begins, never where it ends. Gravity bends the rest of the flight, so every shot is a read of the field rather than a line to trace.

The probe is lost if it hits a planet, leaves the field or runs out of flight time. If a shot is clearly going wrong, tap anywhere during flight to recall the probe and aim again.

Stars

Clear a sector in one flick for three stars, two flicks for two stars, and three or more for one star.

Nav Window

After three flicks on a sector without a clear, a gold band appears around a launch that is proven to work. Hardcore turns it off.

Skip

After four flicks you can skip a sector. It earns no stars, and a skipped sector cannot be replayed later.

Fair sectors

Every sector is checked for at least two working solutions before it ships, so there is always a line to find.

Gravity golf tips for fewer flicks

Physics puzzle games reward the same approach: read the field, commit to one idea, and change one thing at a time between attempts.

  • 01
Stop aiming at the wormhole. From sector 3 onward, the straight line to the wormhole is always blocked, so every clear needs a slingshot. Pick the well you want to curve around first, then aim to pass beside it.
  • 02
Pass close, not through.A well bends the probe hardest when you fly near it, and touching a planet ends the shot. The best lines skim past at a distance where the pull does real work.
  • 03
Change one variable per flick. If a shot curves too early, keep the angle and add power, or keep the power and widen the angle. Changing both at once teaches you nothing about the field.
  • 04
Recall bad shots fast.Tapping during flight brings the probe back straight away, so you do not have to watch a miss play out. It is still a flick, so aim with care.
  • 05
Use the Nav Window to learn, then earn the stars elsewhere.By the time the gold band appears you are already past the three-star shot. Treat it as a lesson in how that kind of field bends, and carry the read into the next sector.
  • 06
Think twice before skipping. The campaign only moves forward. A skipped sector's stars are gone for good, so skip only when you are truly stuck.

The five regions, and how to read each one

Every player flies the same campaign sequence. Each region adds one new idea on top of the last.

Sectors 1–4

First Light

Stable gravity. Learn launch power and bend clean lines around fixed wells.

Sectors 5–7

Ember Reach

Denser fields. Several wells pull at once, and close slingshots hold a precise line.

Sectors 8–11

Reverse Field

Red repulsors push the probe away. Aim for the line they create.

Sectors 12–14

The Drift

Moving wells. Timing becomes part of the shot.

Sector 15 onward

Eventide

Boost gates speed the probe up, mixed with everything that came before.

Repulsors work in reverse: they shove the probe away, so treat them as walls that steer rather than wells to curve around. Moving wells travel a fixed orbit while the probe flies, so ask where a well will be when the probe reaches it, not where it sits at launch. Boost gates speed the probe up as it passes through, and a faster probe bends less, so expect a wider curve after the gate.

Daily Orbit and the Weekly Gauntlet

The Daily Orbit is five sectors, the same five for every player that day. Your score is your total flicks, and fewest wins. Five flicks, a one-flick clear on every sector, is a perfect run.

Your first finished run of the day is the one that ranks. You can fly it again for a personal best, but replays do not change your ranked result. Your result posts without an account; if you are offline, it stays on your device and posts when you reconnect. A new Daily Orbit starts at 00:00 UTC.

The Weekly Gauntlet is a longer, seven-sector ranked run with its own leaderboard. It runs Monday to Sunday, UTC, and is part of Pro.

Orbitfall free vs Pro

Free includes the first 12 campaign sectors, the full Daily Orbit and its leaderboard, and most medals and probe trails. There are no ads.

Pro adds the rest of the campaign, Hardcore mode, which flies the campaign with no aim line at all, the ranked Weekly Gauntlet, and the Flight Log. The Flight Log keeps your best launch for each sector you clear, lets you watch it again, and shows your career totals. Choose a one-time Orbitfall unlock or a StackForge Play Pass, which covers Pro across StackForge games.

Orbitfall FAQ

How do I get three stars in Orbitfall?

Clear the sector with your first flick. Two flicks earns two stars, and three or more earns one.

Is every level possible?

Yes. Each sector is checked for at least two working solutions before it is included.

Why does the aim line stop short?

It only shows how the curve begins. Reading how gravity bends the rest is the skill. Hardcore mode removes the line entirely.

Can I replay a sector I skipped?

No. The campaign moves forward only, and a skipped sector earns no stars.

Orbitfall is free to start on iPhone and Android, with no ads.
